Sweet, sweet cocaine
Won’t you be all mine
Heart’ll pound, my hands will shake
I’m doin’ mighty fine

Sweet, sweet heroin
Won’t you be all mine
I don’t wanna feel a thing
Want nothin’ on my mind

Sweet, sweet whiskey
Won’t you be all mine
If you were to fill the ocean
I would drink it dry

Sweet, sweet devil
Won’t you be all mine
Set this tired land aflame
It ain’t worth a dime

This series is based on the drawings made by snails on the wet sand in the intertidal zone. They are part of an ongoing series of works involving collaboration between the snails and me. I choreograph the snails’ starting positions, and then photograph the marks they make over time.
I tend to think of the snail pieces as a metaphor for the order we establish in our lives, and how the element of chance enters in to shape the result -regardless of how much we attempt to structure it. - Daniel Renalli, on Snail Drawings Series (1995-Present)

“As a teenager, I didn’t want to be me; I wanted to be many different people. Maybe I realized that they all lived inside me and that if I managed to connect with them, they would become aspects of me.” -Marion Cotillard
